Friends of Imperial College (Friends) is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales, registration number 1161269 and governed under the Charities Act 2011.
Our charitable objective is:
“To advance education for the public benefit in the latest developments in science, technology, engineering, medicine and business, by supporting the work of Imperial College London.”
Friends is independent of Imperial College London.
By using our website, booking events and joining as a member, you expressly accept these terms and conditions in full. If you disagree with any part of these terms and conditions, you must not use our website or engage in activities organised by Friends.
Information on our Website
You may view, download and print pages from our website, stream audio and video files from our website, and redistribute our material in an electronic or printed form.
You may not use our website, or information that Friends provides in any way that is unlawful, illegal, fraudulent or harmful.
Information Provided by other Parties
Friends organises events with speakers who represent themselves or other organisations. Ownership of any intellectual property provided by a third-party is retained by the speaker or third-party organisation.
Friends may publish third party information on our website. This is done with the permission of these other parties and does not constitute any transfer of ownership to Friends.
Material originating from speakers or third-party organisations may contain copyright or trademarks and be designated with a notice. Any redistribution of material must retain such notices.
Speakers do not represent Friends and information they provide or opinions they express are their own.
Disclaimer of Liability
We make reasonable endeavours to provide accurate information. People attending our events are responsible for making sure that they know where to come, the date and time of the event. They must exercise due care while attending an event.
We do not accept any liability or responsibility for omissions, errors or inaccuracies regarding information on our website, or for any loss or damage that may arise from its use.
We do not accept any liability or responsibility for third party websites that can be accessed through our website via links that we may provide.
You may order event tickets through our website. We make reasonable endeavours to ensure our events take place as advertised. In the event of a cancellation or a rescheduling of an event, Friends will do their best to contact people who have booked tickets and offer a refund. We do not accept any further liability or responsibility arising from such cancellations or changes.
If you want to cancel a purchased ticket, we may offer a refund at our sole discretion. You must inform us about your wish to cancel at least seven days before the advertised day of the event. A refund may be in the form of a repayment or credit for future events.
Tickets are transferable to other people at the discretion of the purchaser who should notify Friends of the person to whom the tickets are transfered.
Additional Terms and Conditions relating to Membership
Membership payment and duration
People paying a membership fee are Members of Friends of Imperial College (Members). Their membership covers a period of one year from the date of purchase.
Membership is non-transferable and non-refundable. Your membership will be confirmed on the date of purchase.
Your membership can only be used by the named member or for the named member plus one other person for joint membership.
If a Member wants to cancel a renewable membership, please notify us prior to the start of the month in which your renewal is due.
Membership benefits
Membership benefits are listed on the Friends website and may change from time to time. Discounts provided by Imperial College London or other parties are discretionary and intended as additional benefits for people who join as Members in order to support Friends and to participate in our programme of events.
Friends reserves the right to terminate membership for people joining solely to receive a discount.
Members might be asked for a proof of identity when you claim a discount or other benefit.
Members are encouraged to book event tickets in advance. There is no reserved allocation for Members.
Membership termination
Friends reserves the right, at our discretion, to refuse entry and/or membership and/or to revoke membership without refund if a member behaves in a threatening or abusive manner towards any person or organisation associated with Friends, or acts in a manner which in Friends sole opinion brings the Friends into disrepute.
We reserve the right to revoke your membership at any time, without financial compensation, if you commit any breach of these terms and conditions.
Friends reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time.
